When I bought the book from Mr. Rhoades, I
was not prepared for the impressive volume I
received in the mail. Anyone who has an
interest in history or is simply looking for
a pleasant way to pass an hour or two will
be well rewarded for time spent. The book
has made a nice addition to our library.

As a library director I'm not much for
buying books from authors over the phone. I
made the exception for Mr. Rhoades when he
told me about his fascinating discovery that
led to this wonderful book. Each page is
full of beautiful photographs and history.
Who would have thought such an entertaining
book could come from a bunch of old tin
cans! Thanks Doug, for your wonderful book!

Sometimes common objects provide more of an
insight into the true history of a time and
place than academic studies can. Here's a
book that supports that idea. If the thought
of an expensive book about tin cans strikes
you as ridiculous, you have only to open
this book to any page and you will change
your mind. A history of canning and
canneries profusely illustrated with
detailed photos of the real thing, this book
is fun, informative and downright addictive.
The book is also well bound and durable,
like the products it pictures.
